Marichi's Pose B
Marichyasana B
Marichi's Pose B adds a half-Lotus under the folded torso before binding around the upright knee. The half-Lotus deepens the hip opening while the bind and forward fold challenge balance and shoulder mobility. It is a more advanced counterpart to Marichyasana A.
Alignment cues
- Set one foot in half-Lotus, then bend the other knee up
- Wrap around the upright shin and bind behind the back
- Fold forward, bringing the forehead toward the floor
Benefits
- Combines a hip opener with a forward fold and bind
- Builds balance and concentration
- Improves shoulder mobility
Modifications
- Skip the bind and hold the shape with hands on the floor
- Use a strap to connect the hands
